As we saw today and yesterday, there are times when two different verb tenses can be acceptable in a sentence. I posted the answers to homework from last night. If you are still confused, please discuss with your classmates here on the blog. Remember to look for two things:
Is the action background for another main event? Then choose past perfect or past progressive
Is the event completed or incomplete? completed, choose simple past or past perfect, if incomplete past progressive.
Look at your adverbs and prepositions. They give you clues and could make a certain tense incorrect.
